The Carmel Del Mar PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a volunteer-based, parent-funded organization whose mission is to positively impact, support, and enhance the overall learning environment at Carmel Del Mar.

We organize events and programs that support the school community, and provide all children with opportunities to connect and learn. We also fund school-site needs and offer mini-grants to all teachers.

2023 – 2024

The International Showcase is back on Friday May 3rd 2024

After postponing one of CDM’s favorite events last fall, we are bringing the International Showcase back on May 3rd from  5:30pm- 7:30pm. This event is to celebrate CDM’s diverse culture. Bring a traditional or family favorite dish to share (16-20 servings), enjoy crafts, displays and entertainment and learn something new about the various cultural backgrounds of our students and their families! Everyone is encouraged to wear traditional attire to represent their heritage. This is a free PTA-sponsored and organized event.

Not only do we invite all CDM families to attend this event, but there are multiple ways for every family to participate!

• Food: Everyone who attends is encouraged to bring a traditional or family favorite dish to share (16-20 servings). You do not need to sign-up in advance for this. This is a favorite at this event and the more food that is shared, the more fun it is. 

• Showcases: We are looking for families who are willing to put together a showcase. Responsibilities include setting up a table representing your country on Friday evening (4:30- 5:30pm) before the event and then manning your table during the entire event (5:30-7.30pm). Details on setup/presentation will be sent out to those who sign up. The families will “tour the world” visiting each table and learning something about that country. If you would like to join a country group or can add another country to the event, please we would be thrilled. Please email [email protected] by Wednesday, April 24th if you would like to sign-up to create a showcase.

• Performances: We are also looking for students (or parents) who want to give a short performance with a cultural component. All talents are welcome!  Please sign-up Here for a performance. We have a limited number of performance spots, so be sure to sign-up soon!

• Traditional Attire: Everyone is encouraged to wear traditional attire to represent their heritage. We will have a chance for all participants to show their traditional clothing off on stage.
